Maia Hoffenberg

About the artist:

Maia Hoffenberg is a high-school student on the East coast. She has a grandmother with Alzheimer's disease who lives with her family. Watching her slowly wither away has made Maia very attuned to the fragility of life, and the beauty within it.

About the artwork:

"This image is a charcoal drawing of a man with a haunted expression; he could be healthy or he could be dying."

Visuals editor:

Sara Kohrt
